yea 70 later on this year for the starter kit...and if u already have a xbl account it will cost you 50$/year for a subscription (well at least i think i read that someplace)

No, either use a cell phone headset or call M$ and they'll replace it at no cost. If you're lucky, they'll send you two like they did for me.

Madcatz does have a generic headset out for like $5. But, no connector is with it for the controller.
