hmm... you make DC backing up seem soo simple, my only problem with this quote.... "to play a dc backup" yes it is very simple.... also 95% of DC backups done right nerver need any type of "boot disk"... with the exceptions of a few old games...

but to "back-up a dc game yourself" and insert bootstrap configure files correctly since the disk writes dats from edge in as opposed to in out.... etc. is another story.

firstly u need to stream the disk like xbox to pc first of all... since DC uses a propriatary "GD" rom format..... you better hope to GOD you bought a Broadband adapter for DC like i did or the transefer could take up tp a day.... and unless you have a "newbie" "scene" release which "is the ideal way to go" since it save tons of time and headache's then i guess you could say "dc" backups and playing the back-ups is simple...

but how many of you can make them yourself in under 30min.?
as far as i saw the regular person couldn't "backup" there "Dc" games... it was mostly a scene thing.... not like ps1/ps2/xbox backing up.... which any 10 year old can be thought to master in an hour.... "my lil cousin" is proof : )

this is getting "way off subject " but as far as backing up yourslef.... DC is by far the most complex system so far until a realistic gamecube mod is released... but then again the dc does not need any mod-chip.... so it's a trade-off....

Was I talking about MAKING a Dreamcast backup? No, I wasn't. I was talking about PLAYING a Dreamcast backup.

Well, whenever I play my backups for Dreamcast, I use my Gameshark to boot them. Maybe I will try booting them without the Gameshark sometime just to test

I been trying to do this method with my PS2. When it says insert game with my Gameshark, I turn the gear clockwise and the tray pops out a little, and I pull it out. I swap the Gameshark CD with my backup. I gently put back the tray all the way, and then turn the gear counter clockwise until I can't anymore. But, the backups just don't work with this method.

My PS2 version is the very first one.

Any ideas?
