QUOTE
if i save a game to my hdd that has this live feature , will it detect i have a diff bios and render my xbox usless.

No.

QUOTE
i only ask because a mate has his box modded (so he could play dvd-r games) and he acidently installed 'live' and it f@cked his box.

He probably has a nonflashable mod and when he installed Live, it overwrote his xboxdash.xbe (which was EvolutionX) and thus caused problems. But, a simple FTP transfering will do a fix on that.

Having the dash won't cause problems, installing Live does (for a nonflashable modded Xbox)

i have found all xbox file managers are crap to copy files and games, they only work properly when you have a brand new cdrw or dvdr disk, or if u use ftp to copy them.
