Go to "on-the-fly" edit command and change the region from "PAL, Region 4" to "NTSC, Region 1". That's it! Now you have a NTSC EEPROM. But, you will have to go to your MS dash and update the clock.

Question: to save the new region setting what do I have to do?

This is my story.
I got a new eeprom.
It was PAL and I did not use ConfigMagic in the first place because it was not installing the new eeprom, so I used EEPromer.
EEPromer worked but I could not change the region.
So know I got a screen that won't stop jumping. I seek help.
I get help in the form of using the Enigmah video select boot disk.
Thank God for the video select boot disk.
I switch the video to NTSC but now the region is set to 4.
So I go to ConfigMagic like the tut says but it does not work.

Here are the steps I took
1. Run ConfigMagic
2. Unlock HDD
3. On-The-Fly Edit. Change region to 1.
4. Try to lock HDD. Error Msg: "Load Xbox EeProm To Lock HDD"
5. I load XBOX EEProm. Region Changes Back to 4. AAAAARGH!!!!

What do I have to do so it saves the change?

I also tried just using "on the fly edit" without unlocking the drive and nothing.

Someone please help.

Thanks,

Sammy

I used EEPROMER and it messed up my Xbox. It put a maximum security lock on the HD (which I was able to fix). So, I really can't help with EEPROMER because it is such a crappy program, I have no idea how to fix it.

I question why you didn't use Configmagic, but oh well.

yes, you should be worried, if you try and play a game like Rainbow 6 off of your hard drive (with modchip turned on) it immediately goes on to xbox live and banns you without warning.
This happend to me.

Sigh.. no.

Rainbow Six 3 is a Live Aware game. As my pinned thread says, DO NOT use your profile for the game that matches your Xbox Live gamertag.

Ok,
I was able to find out what I was doing wrong.

Shanafan you should add the following to your tut on how to edit on the fly.

On-The-Fly-Edit:
Steps:
1. Unlock HDD
2. Edit on the fly
3. Update Xbox EEPROM (This is the one I didn't know)
4. Lock HDD
5. Exit
6. Set Clock to correct time and date.

Hope that helps others out there who come accross the same problem as me. blink.gif

Did you see my Configmagic tutorial?

quick question for xbox that's does not have a xbox live account on it yet. what would happen if  the xbox is connected online but without live setup on it and you happened to click on any live access tab? would that result in banning the xbox on live eventhough live is not setup on that particular xbox?

Correct. You connect to Live to make an account, so..

For instance, for Xbox Live 1, the Live animated screen was actually your Xbox connecting to Live. In the next screen, you chose your gamertag or your network setup.

so clicking on any live access tab in hd backup game while connected on internet without live setup, the box cannot be banned right? also just want to make sure, in order for ms to ban you from live, you have to have an account setup first correct?

Just what I said..

I Have a 1.0 modded xbox, modded with a matrix.  It was modded for about a year and i had xbox live before i modded, i never even tried going onto xbox live while it was modded, i then upgraded my hd and now i decided to try to get back onto xbox live. so i have a d6 bios and it loads the ms dash perfectly when i turn my chip off but when i selected the xbox live option in the main dash it said i would have to update xbox live....so i said ok and then it said that it was updating and gave me the progress bar, but after about 10 seconds of nothing, it said it could not connect to xbox live and try again later.?
