Swapped Drive After Signing For Live

Have you tried doing an account recovery from the live section of the ms dash?

wait, did you copy c: and e: drives content from the original HD? This should have your account information. I had the same situation and I had no such problems.

EDIT - ok reread your post. You copied all of the c: drive from your latest drive? Did you lock your drive?

Yep, copied c and e - and locked the drive.
