What Do I Have To Do To Make Live Work
« on: January 03, 2003, 08:11:00 PM »

muhaha.gif take evox off ur hard drive, boot evox off of cdrw. then place msdash - updated as xboxdash.xbe in the c drive. boot the dashboard w/ modchip switched off. load retail game or startup xblive demo disc and run game. Select ur account under the account selection screen and baam ur on. YOU MUST HAVE UR MODCHIP OFF. I'm in the same situation as you and I know what it is like to be banned on live.

to get the contents from hdd to cd ur must send the files from ur xbox to pc and make an iso out of them with a tool such as; xboxisotool - you can get from this site.......burn the iso but make sure the evodash.xbe (xboxdash.xbe - hacked) is named default.xbe.
But the Evox disk isn't important when it comes to playing retail games on xbox live...

This is a perfect example of where the search button could have been used but was not. Thus ends another episode of...the newbie zone. *Twighlight zone music plays*

think we should rename the forum to

"XBOX [search before you ask] SCENE"

or possibly an automatic welcome private message telling people to use the frickin search or be banned.

I agree Wu-Tang, Why waste a post blasting a newbie question... Just answer the question or don't reply. As a somewhat newbie (2 months in the modding scene) I have read and reread tons of messages. I can definitely say that a newbie will be more confused if they searched for ALL the threads on one subject.

Whats needed is a main faq for xboxlive use w/modchip. There are so many rumors about whether your box is banned/ flagged if you do x, y or z. Whether the msdash or evoxdash matters etc...  and to make matters worst folks sarcastically not answering direct questions.

Theres no such thing as a dumb question... just dumb ass people.

Wu Tang, here is what you want to do.

Since you have the X-ecutor1, it will automatically boot xboxdash.xbe from your C when you power your Xbox on. Now, since you want to play on Live with the modchip off (only solution right now), your MS dash must be xboxdash.xbe. Always. Now, let's say you want to play a backup from the HD. Since the regular MS dash can't boot backups from the HD, you have to boot EvolutionX dash from a CDRW. In order to create this CDRW, you must put this file on the CDRW:

default.xbe (this will be the EvolutionX dash)

And that's it! The rest of the files, evox.ini, etc., can still all be on the HD.

Your modchip of course must be on in order to play the CDRW. Also, to play on Xbox Live, your HD must be locked because the original BIOS, when the modchip is off, wants a locked HD. Just leave your HD always locked then. It won't mess anything up.

This is all assuming you are running homebrew software and games from the HD.
