| QUOTE (ArMaGeDdOn @ Jan 2 2003, 11:09 AM) | | QUOTE (waz @ Jan 2 2003, 09:56 AM) | why the fuck should you play a game you didn't pay for, what gives you the right to pirate somebody else's damn hard work? [because not pirating it and pirating it don't change a thing in the world]
they buy/rent an office then do the same for their computer systems, then they pay their royalty fee's to all the different companies such as M$ and use of a specific game engine if they don't use their own, then they pay the staff and after the game is made they pay the marketing fee's all so jumped up Little twats can pirate games and sit their all smug and come up with bullshit like "i wouldn't buy them anyway" well good for you don't buy them, let some other mug pay for the game out their own pocket while you play it for free [are you just proving my point more or what? it's confusing. if you understand that i wouldn't but the games anyways, you'll see that i'm not causing a loss to them]
i hope one day you own your own business and someone starts ripping it off because lets face it i could walk into your shop and steal whatever i like then when you ask what the hell I'm doing ill simply say "well i wouldn't buy it anyway" [that is a childish attitude. imagine it this way. stealing a shirt with a nike logo, or buying a shirt, and writing nike on it. NOT selling it, because that would be loss of profit for nike, but just keeping it for yourself. see where i'm coming from?]
if you don't think piracy harms companies your living in a fantasy world. [maybe you should call nintendo up and ask them what they think. i'm sure you'll be surprised]
[one last note: i'm a computer programmer. i, like all other xbox programmers in the scene believe is something called free software, and many of us even to the point of open-source. the people that make these programs are putting hard work into it, and they are giving it out for free. others should learn to do the same. in any case, read my previous comments, and then shut the fuck up] |
LOL. not this shit again. as i mentioned one hundred billion dollars. i mean, what i mentioned many times is that whether i pirate or not it won't affect the game companies. if i didn't pirate, i wouldn't buy the games anyways. it's not like i'm stealing their game discs from the store. i'm making a digital copy of it from a rented disc, or i download it. i'm not causing them an 'loss'. and i'm not preventing them from making a profit either, because i wouldn't buy anything from them anyways.
let's see. i say, FUCK YOURSELF!
cheerio, please lock this thread. too many stupid idiots replying here. |
I see your point. Your saying, I wouldnt buy this game anyway, becuase its shit and it sucks. But what about if you like the game? Do you buy it then? Or do you still play it all you want, with the same logic of "they arent losing any money, so who cares?" Your right about this.......
1) since you wouldnt buy the game anyway, they arent losing any money due to your piracy.
your 100% correct. But now lets look at the ETHICAL side of it.
If you created something that took hundreds of hours of work, and truly believed it was something that people would be interested in, would you not expect compensation for it? Yes, of course you would. And if people thought it was a pile of shit, then you wouldnt expect them to buy it would you? No, but you would assume that for every 10 people that hated it, hopefully a 100 people would like it and buy it. Thats MY point. If you like something, BUY IT, and if your so trailer trash poor that you cant afford to , then you shouldn't own it. I think what MS is doing by banning LIVE players with thier mod chips enabled is great. I dont play alot of pc games anymore becuase of all the cheating going on. Cheating kills multiplayer games! On my xbox,I bought a mod chip that I can turn off and play live, then go back to my modded xbox later. I also put a 120 gig in my xbox to copy games to it. I own 18 games legally and have about 40 on my hard drive. Now, when my hard drive is full, ill delete some of the games that I dont like to make room for new ones. Ever see the tag lines in .NFO files from usenet that say "if you like the game, buy it"? Thats what I do, I buy games that I really really like and rent the so -so ones. Not the most ethical thing to do, but im not at one extreme or the other. (ie, Im not totally against piracy, but yet im not totally for it) It all comes down to the fact that if you like the game, but the fucking thing. If not, dont. The problem starts when people start arguing about how they would never buy the game anyway (in not targeting you) and they justify pirating every single game. Or, that the game sucks, and they wouldnt buy it anyway. There is such thing as ethics, which more and more people dont have anymore, and that's just the sad state the world has become. Lastly, dont think im some pro anti-piracy guy, because I come from back in the day when there was no internet, and I ran a 6 node pirate bbs out of my house that was WHQ for quite a few groups, not to mention was a distro site for some of the big groups that are still around today. BUT EVEN THEN, I bought some of the games I liked. (granted, not as many as I do now, but I make alot more money now than I did then, so I can afford to piss away more)
