Slight Fraging Problem
« on: May 19, 2004, 03:40:00 PM »

I just installed an xecuter lite wire install on my friends v1.0 xbox... we plugged everything in to see if it still worked and it did... while still plugged in to the wall but off, my friend accidentily touched the metal piece in red below and got a large shock from it. When I got everything back together we plugged it all in and turned it on and the cromwell screen came off so i shut it off, and went to get my BIOS cd. So then I went to turn it on again and the power light went green for approx 2 seconds and shut off, then it turned itself back on again for 2 seconds and shut off with a beeping sound(I think from the HDD), then turned itself on a third time and FRAGed. It will do this everytime... BUT, if I unplug it from the wall and plug it back in, it starts up fine the first time. Every startup after the first one will do the turn off thing twice and FRAG. So if it works the first time i turn it on after unplugging it and plugging back in, what could be wrong with it? Could it have anything to do with the metal thing my friend got shocked by? I think my friend can live with having to unplug it every time but it would be nice just to hit the on button.

I also scratched away at the top d0 point a lot cause the damn solder wouldn't stick to it, but I finally took out the motherboard and soldered it to the one on the bottom. If i messed up one of the trace things then it wudnt even work at all right? thats the only other thing i can think that it would be.

copy the link and go to it it doesnt work when i click it

The metal thing has labels all over it that say caution so I dont think your really supposed to touch it...

That "shock" MAY have done quite a bit of damage.

Unfortunately I don't have any telepresence equipment which can help diagnose your xbox's circuitry  over the internet.

Either find a knowledgable friend who works in electronics, or start saving up.

Sorry.
