i'm sure they thought.... but they still want your money just not from a modded xbox.  its all about them protecting their service.  they don't need to destroy the mod scene.  all they need to do is ensure that if you want to play a live enabled game you need to not be using a modded xbox.  which they do for all intents and purposes.

as for the not banning accounts i just realized, if you buy a prebanned box they dont what your account to get banned.

It sounds fair to me that eventually must banned ppl will have to buy a new Xbox just for Live (wait for price drops after Christmas   ).

getting a new eeprom is not too difficult.  I'm not sure why you think it is.  if people think its really hard to get one then they didn't put much effort behind it and don't know how to search.

You were right Fuzzy. My problem is real weird. Xbox Live goes on and off for me now. The only fix for me is to switch off my router and turn it back on again. That wouldn't be a problem as much, but I have to change the config for XBMP everytime this happens (DHCP IP change), which is a pain in the ass. Used to work flawlessly too. Even put the xbox ip in the DMZ field.

I feel like i know alot about networks and to me all that means is your xbox isnt being dealt an ip right away so when you cycle your router its picking up the xbox. What brand router is it? You might have to set it to automatically pick up new "clients"
