Bios That Won't Boot Default.xbe From Dvdrom First
« on: November 29, 2002, 09:18:00 AM »

Sounds like a good plan, but the only problem is, what about Matrix users like myself that are in mode 3 (load game disc, then eject after game starts loading to turn off modchip).  The only way to disable the modchip is to load a game first.  This means the BIOS has to be able to boot default.xbe off of an original game.  Is there another way to do this?  Perhaps boot into EvoX, then load a game, then hit eject or something?

this isnt the problem at all. Except for the main disk, no games load live on startup. The only problem is people accidentally going into the live connection menu or hitting go live in games. Not letting games load would do nothing but annoy people =X

It IS a problem for some people.  With matrix mode 3, it can be easy to goof up and boot using the modchip instead of the original bios.  Particularly if you are not using a color mod bios.

If the game boots on startup, you might not even notice and could go into the live menus yourself.

It's to protect people from their own stupidity.

Personally, I have my evo-x set to not boot games automatically, and I think there are lots of other people who have the same setup.  It's not "annoying" to me, and probably most others too.
