Virgin Xbox With Xbl Installed, Should I Mod?
« on: November 25, 2002, 03:37:00 PM »

so I've got all these downloaded games and picked up a Pioneer DVD burner so I can be all set to burn xbox games.  Before my chip came in, I jumped on the XBL bandwagon.   If I install the matrix chip, will it hose my ability to get onto Live?  All the steps in the other threads so far assume you already have the chip...in my case XBL is already installed and there is no chip.  Would adding a chip automatically get me banned?  Should I just forget the whole thing and not install the chip for a while?

still I feel cheated that I bought all this shit and now I can't use it.  Is there a way to install a switch on the matrix?  I'm not too comfortable with the whole mode3 swap trick.  Plus I hear its not fullproof

Don't put the chip in unless you can stand to be banned.  Eventually it'll happen.  My suggestion is to buy a second XBox just for chipping.

Cheated?  Heh....

Well, After much trouble, I have successfully modded my Xbox with Matrix (MODE 3) and using the 2.6 Evox BIOS (wich boots evoxdash.xbe instead of xboxdash.xbe) to use live.....  I waited  a week, and was still good..

Part 2 was to upgrade the hard drive to 120gb.. I baught an IBM drive and got it working with the chip... Then locked the drive.. (That was challenge) But when I tried to get on Live with my New HDD my account wasnt there... SOOOOO... After much asking.. I just decided to to it the only way I could think of...

I had to copy my live accnt to a memory card off the original HD, then put the 120gb hard disk back in and copied it off of the memory card..  Still working for 3 days...
