Enigmah On Live? Help!
« on: November 25, 2002, 09:20:00 AM »

i dont think MS are bothering banning users anymore as they seem to just checksum your bios then just prevent you loggin on.

as for your dashboard, take a look at some of the evox tutorials to see about booting to a different file.

Enigmah On Live? Help!

I have an enigmah with a switch installed too.  What I did tonight delete the dashboard, that way it never boots.  If a game is in the drive, you don't even need the dashboard, the game automatically boots up.   I booted a retail Halo after deleting the dashboard, and I booted a Splinter Cell backup too.  Since there is no dashboard, I guess MS can't run their code to find my mod.  Later this week, I'll put back the dash, use the Live starter kit to install XBL, take MS update via the live connection, then remove the dash again, never to access it again.  If I want to play live games, turn off the mod, place retail disk in drive and reboot.  If i want to play backups, turn the mod on, insert dvd-r in drive, then reboot.  Sounds logical right?  I can still run any game without the dash and MS will never find my mod.

Nevermind, if XBL does a validity check for xboxdash.xbe I'm SOL.  Oh well, back to the old drawing board.

Enigmah On Live? Help!

I went ahead and ordered my chip today.  But I did have an idea about a way to get it to work with the enigmah but you'd be taking a risk.  Anyways here goes:

Instead of replacing the dash with evox or removing it, why not replace the dash with the older dash.  Now of course what this would mean is you would have to upgrade your system to the xbl dash and then copy your c drive backup over top of it.  What happens is you get a C drive with both system files for each dash (since they have different file system layouts) and the older dash boots up when the xbox starts.  If you needed to you could just ftp into and replace the old dash with the new dash if you needed to do an upgrade or something.  I've tried it on my banned system and the two can coexisist fairly nicely.

Of course this is assuming MS won't flag the old xboxdash.xbe as a modified dash and that they won't check to see if both file systems are on the C.  I have no idea if this will work on XBL but I would think something like this could happen by accident to a non modded user  (if the power went off during an update or something) so maybe MS would be to scared to ban because of it.  Who knows.

Again though I really tried racking my brain at figuring out the best way to get my enigmah on XBL but I ended up just loosing alot of sleep and worrying myself needlessly.  It was worth the $50 for me to just get a new mod that I could flash.

In response to Terabeast's reply, it couldn't have been that easy to defeat this live thing, could it...?

Enigmah On Live? Help!

i think u can install evoX on your hd AND play live but :

u must have : a mod u can disable (switch or matrix)
a bios that loads sthg different than xboxdash (to leave it original)
a retail hd (or a locked one)
to disable autoload game (in order not to do a "sad mistake that ruin my dash")
to disable the link to the original dash (same reason)

i think this will work...

Can someone confirm this ??????

it's my noob solution from a noob to noobs

I think your right pogopin, the reason I can't use my enigmah on live is cause of the loading of xboxdash.xbe.  Right now the safest method seems to be F Boot since it hides the files in a partition that isn't accessable with the mod off.  If you have files on the C drive (or E drive), MS might be able to search for them.
