I'm A Fucking Genius
« on: December 10, 2002, 12:37:00 PM »

First of all, I would like to apologize to all those who were waiting for a production version of the EEPROM switch PCB.  I simply have too much schoolwork and have no more time to spend on this project.  Although my own prototype works like a charm, I do not have the time necessary to clean it up and make a few more.  If anyone was wondering if the concept works, rest assured that it does.  Mind you I still have to switch between two hard disks but in theory, if the BIOS was hard coded with the correct key, it would work seamlessly with one drive.  For now, the project has been put on indefinite hiatus and may or may not resume after finals.  I encourage people to explore this idea further and post their findings and results here.  I would like to thank opjose and the others for all their support.  Keep the scene alive!

I came up with the same idea a little while ago.  I've built a working prototype and am currently running with two hard drives and two eeproms.

See my other posts for details.

A tutorial will come soon, possibly sales.

I am happy to hear about your project, but please don't bump threads that are almost 11 months ago. It will confuse people.

dude.  read my post (free virtual xbox).  i explained how to shut off cd loading when the modchip is active.  meaning that ONLY your backed up programs and games load when the modchip mode is active.  just edit evox.ini file.

Even if you do that, if you forget to remove the live files from a game and someone runs it you're still fucked.  This is FUCKATARDproof.  I couldn't get banned if i tried.

I very doubt this will work.

Do you forget your hdd is locked based on the eeprom you have?

I am very curious how will you swap your hdd password

huh.gif

so much for a genius  jester.gif

I was under the impression that the mod ignores the HD password.  If it does not. I guess you will have to also switch between drives.  The fact remains that this method will prevent your idiot friends from banning you by accident.

nope.  you don't fucking get it.

your modded system with big hard drive WILL NOT HAVE XBOX LIVE INSTALLED.  so there will be no flagging or reporting or connecting to xbox live features.  also, even if the games flag it in that hard drive, when you switch to the other virgin mode, the flag will be on another hard drive.  meaning that nothing will get reported.

get it?  biggrin.gif

wait, you mean that an xbox live enabled game has the same files as the xbox live starter kit on it???????

holy SHIT!  are you serious??

if that's the case, i guess if someone could make a switch to disable the network adapter in modded mode would be good.

Also remember that if you disable your network adapter then you will have just nullified any FTP functionality or system link gaming.

Will the LIVE files download/detect modchip if the ethernet cable is pulled OUT of the xbox?

Currently all Xbox Live games contain the dashboard update necessary to upgrade to Live.  The first generation of Live games have the old dashboard data, they still require an online update.  So if it has connectivity it will automatically download the update after the automatic install.  You can disable the adapter or unplug it but it is only a matter of time before the new Live games also contain the updated code.
