Hehe I'm sooo glad we are on our way here.  But I did say right at the beginning that there was another change in the eeprom that was hashing us.  Very similar to dss.  Thanks for those who took time to listen like opjose and zander and fuzzy and to the rest.... tongue.gif

Why arnt people listening, the only 2 things that are keyed to a ban are the HD Key and online key. I have stated this from the start. The online key is generated from the HD key. What amazes me most its is now plastered on the home page of every major xbox news site that this is now cracked.

But there is no CHANGE in the eeprom like you thought.  The HD Key is not being changed to give you the xblive not found error, so changing it back won't help as there actually is nothing to change.  The server is simply giving a different reponse to people with certain ("banned" if you will) keys.

Again, M$ can do this because they can make a list and you have to log in every time - with DSS, you don't have to log in (and rule #1 of DSS hacking, never plug into the modem line - we're basically trying to get to XBLive while connected, imagine doing THAT with your dss).

QUOTE (b0b @ Nov 22 2002, 10:00 AM)
Mr DaOne, Opjose has stated repeatedly the HD key has nothing to do with the ban. replacing the eeprom would not get you back on live if the HD key was part of the reason the bans happen. Team Assembly has apprently gotten back online with a banned box I'm assuming with the same HD, Team Xecuter is adding features to there future 512+ bios that will unban your Xbox this would not be possible if the HD key was part of the issue. Maybe i'm wrong but since the HD key isn't changing and people are regaining access it doesn't seem feasible.

The HD Key is contained in the eeprom, so when opjose and other changed out the eeprom, one of the things that they were replacing was the hd key.  However, they were also changing s/n, mac, online key... and everything else in the eeprom.

These latest rounds of tests are looking to find WHAT, within the eeprom is causing the problem.  So far we're zeroing in on the hd key (with some dissenting opinions / testing as far as the online key - also in the eeprom is concerned).

how do you change(edit, whatever) your eeprom? how easy is it to go in and just 'replace' the HDD key?

We now need to work on generating HDD Keys and we'll be set !

Therein lies the sticky part eh? I, for one, have no idea what would be and would not be a valid HDD key that MS would recognize.

The sticky part would be how MS generated the keys.  Hopefully they just used an algorithm to generate keys and didn't keep a log for validation.  That would only require someone to break the key code and make a new keygen.  The sticky part is that MS prolly went the route of most companies these days and Used an algorith to generate a set of keys and then used a completely different algorithm to choose which of those keys would be valid.  That is the kind of nuts that are hard to crack.  But you can see that there is definitely alot of progress happening so hopefully it wont be too much longer.  Hell, walmarts return policy is 90 days, so I figure we have 83 more days to get my original box back online.
