Locked Hdd & Disabled Mod -- Works?

So, unclear about this:

Matrix disabled.
80 gbb Locked HDD in Xbox.

Will Live work, or do I need to use the original drive?  (I have the original in there now and want to put my 80gb back in there, but only if it actually works).

Obviously don't want my box banned AGAIN.
