are you sure as i would have thought the same subscription number used would simply result in 'already registered'.

Can you simply put your info in again and its ok?

There is an account recovery option under account management.

you dont have to put in subcriptionnumber, just go to account recovery and fill in the info.

When you get the new XBox pop in the Live CD so it can update. When it starts the user registration just take the disc out and reset to get to the Dashboard. Go in to Live, Account Management, and then Account Recovery. I've done this a few times.

open teh xbox and yank the hard drive, then put a brick in there and send it back

well sure,m but if someone has a mod'd xbox then they cannot even connect to live to see the account recovery option, and without knowing about it makes things unsure as to whether they should replace/get a second xbox for live, so you see the info is helpful on a number of levels...there is no need for sarcasm on such forums, they simply degrade the info.
