Wouldn't MS make it a bit more obvious that they had gotten rid of modchip users if they had done something on purpose though?  I mean one of the main reasons they might try to fight mod chips on LIVE is cause people are scared that "hackers" will hack onto their xboxes and nuke them.

also guys, what if like whacked and motogp are hosted by MS (i think motogp is) which explains why server problems might make it hard for us to get connected.  and maybe fever beta 2003 is p2p which makes it easier on those servers, and which also explains why we can connect to fever but (i at least) always get disconnected in the middle of the game?

is this plausible?

as soon as i read the news i tried my beta cd with it. no go. i went to the troubleshooting and it said "Cannot Connect Due To Technical Difficulties." then i tried it with the retail disc which i just got in the mail today, still doesnt work. i really think its a server problem. there is no doubt in my mind that it is a server problem. with all these people getting Live early, they werent prepared for this many people online that early and it probably threw them off a little bit. since others with mods can still connect, im sure thats all this is.

I don't know about the server thing. I'm a beta tester, so I can get into the beta forums. There's just the normal talk going on in there. I'm sure that there would be threads about not being able to connect if lots of people were having problems. Since yesterday I've only seen 5 people post that they couldn't connect. I didn't post there because I thought that it may be just the modded systems that were having a problem (no need to leave a note on MS's door saying that what they did worked, although I'm sure they read the hacking forums also).
There are some people complaining about the retail version also. But the majority of the beta testers are going about their daily routine.

also andreo, a lot of people who got beta, have modchips, so they wouldn't post anything for the risk of being caught.

This is when I load the original bios with the openxbox:

my xbox live sais "xbox live not found" when i actually go to network setup

but i am still able to play motogp on the starter disk & fever onine but i can't play anything on the beta disk or wacked on the starter disk because they sais that it can't connect to xbox live.

This is when I load the evox 2.5 bios with the openxbox:

Everything doesn't work

I don't know what to think.

Hopefully it just a server problem (that is probably why i am getting a "xbox live not found" error even on the originla bios but i don't understand why some games will still work, but not all--& when i load the evox 2.5 bios, no games work)

what do you think??

well i got live from target and was able to play fine until last night.  but i also got live for my girl.  now my xbox wont connect and hers will.  but even hers when it gets to the game like moto gp it says it wont connect.  but mine wont even connect from the dashboard.  everything works but then it says xbox live not found.  i gave em all my stuff did the whole press y thing at the dash connection menu and they upgraded me to a level 2 problem or something so the tech guys would call me back.  now obviously everyone here that cant connect has a mod so we cant judge off that.  if we get people without mods to say it is or isnt working then that will help.  but hers has a mod and still connects from dashboard.

If there are complaints from people without modded systems then MS may back off. They wouldn't want to affect legit systems. It would give them to much bad press. But I don't think that un-modded systems are being affected.
And for the people that still think that the problem is because of servers being worked on... Explain why there are no complaints in the Beta forums, xbox365, team xbox, etc.
I know that you don't want to believe that MS can block modded systems but it sure looks like they have.

When i tested the connection from the dash (and i did several times) it always said it connected to LIVE, it's only when i try to connect to whacked or motogp that it doesn't work!  I do have a modchip, enigmah-x homebrew clone.  NFL fever 2003 however works, but i still haven't managed to play a single game without being disconnected (i got my beta and retail discs/kits yesterday)

scyraxxx:

Before bitching, read the User Agreement. You cannot access the XBL servers with a modded system.

Anyway, here is the deal.

It is some kind of HDD detection. We have tried 3 systems. All modded with same TSOP flash.

1) Xbox Live not detected. 120GB HDD.
2) Xbox Live not detected. 120GB HDD.
3) NO PROBLEMS ON XBOX LIVE! Original HDD.

So beware, when you get on and get denied, and restore your system to stock or whatnot, you are still shitbricked. Looks like they are killing serials server-side.

This party is over.

BRY, that's BULL cause i have an enigmah-x homebrew clone (which i dont think does anything to the HDD) and i have the original HDD, never touched anything on it or bios or anything other than inserting burned dvds and XBL does NOT work with me!

that is a good point XBOX LIVE because (i'm embarrassed to say) that's prolly what i woulda done if it was the serial.  Why would MS ban an xbox altogether??  true.  But still, we can't be sure that they didn't do that.  I will install my switch tomorrow and tell you people how it goes...
