Hmm how about this mabey they looking at the .ini files also since no matter what bios ybox, xboxdash.xbe etc you use evox has the same .ini file name mabey they search for that and if its there denial of service error or something. I think come friday were all able to play live online myself but mabey there is something else.

If they do detect mods ill just use xbconnect

Well if it is some type of modchip protection, it's not done by looking at the contents for your C partition. I wiped my C partition clean and restored it with a pre-live backup I had with no evox or extra files on it. Ran the dashboard update and still had the Live not detected error.

I thought about that too, so I put in my original HD with only the original files and no mod chip installed.  I let the CD update my original dash from there.  Run the connectivity test and it fails test 4 like it does for a lot of other people.

This hobby, like some other hobbies, is a cat and mouse game.  MS, it appears, has one upped us for now.  We need to realize that Xbox Live hasn't really officially been open to the public yet.  We just need to give some time to the great minds of this hobby who will come up with a way to circumvent this temporary setback.

Of course it's mod chip detection.  I don't know why everyone is in such denial.

If you go to the XBox Live groups, you don't hear ANYONE complaining about not connecting.  The people who are complaining are the ones that are modchip users.

That should be all the proof you need, but then again...crazier things have happened, and maybe it's just rollout problems...but I've pretty much accepted that they are doing something about the chipped machines, and I suggest everyone else does the same.

I can't even get on the Xbox Live forums, just a bunch of gateway timeouts.

That alone says something to me - it's like a 'standard' patch day with anything MS related, a mess

Just to further reinforce the fact there IS mod detection.  I signed on to MechAssault server with my chip disabled, signed on instantly.  Attempted to sign on with the chip enabled.....long pause and then bang unable to sign on.  Seconds later, I disabled the mod chip and again instantly was logged onto the server.

Why can't I get on with my mod chip activated but CAN get on with it de-activated.  Trust me I would love to believe that its a server problem but it is very obvious that it is not.

Is it possible that there are MS reps on these boards spreading misinformation about LIVE and modchip connectivity, trying to throw this whole scene off the right track?

Sorry to all those who gave their testimonials, but right now, the only people I trust are the mods and admins on these boards.

hell ya.. Conspiracy theories already!

(although I can imagine it)

Now all we need is to start talking about class-action lawsuits and then we will have a real forum discussion!

lucasz,

You hit the nail on the head. ANYONE at this point making sweeping statements that they claim are true, is more than likely wrong at this point. It is still too early to tell on any of this.

Keep an open mind guys.
