Xbox Live Servers Down?
« Reply #15 on: November 12, 2002, 09:54:00 AM »

Well, just to let everyone know. I'm having the same problem as well. Everything was fine on Sunday but Monday night it didn't work. I tried the Revolution disk, Moto / Whacked beta and the Retail disk. Also running the test through the dashboard didn't help either.
So if they did ban my Xbox, so be it. I will not remove my modchip and I will not buy a second console just to play live.

hehe i was afraid that ms detected our mod chips (i don't have evox, so it'd have to be the bios) or perhaps the dvd-r games, but i think it's just more likely that they took the servers down for last minute maintenance and won't put them back up until the 15th since that is the supposed "launch date" and by having them up now would kinda take away from the whole fun of waiting for the 15th.  this just seems the most likely to me.

I am a beta tester and i did not update to the new disk they sent yet.  My problem is that i can;t get the moto disk to connect, it goes and does the test for cables, ip address, etc, and all is fine.  i put moto disk back in, and still can't connect.  I then tried fever, and it worked no problem?? go figure.

ph34r.gif I just called M$ and they said they were not having an issue.  Of corse he blamed it on my router,  Guess I am going to have to wait until I get home to test it again and see what is up. ph34r.gif

Has anyone removed their modchip yet and tested?

I'm going to try it when I get home, and I still haven't heard back from Tech Support.

I have the Enigma in my box. I tried the Fever beta as well and still nothing. Maybe we need to see if this a with certain mod chips. I looked on the other boards and people who were braging that they were on with the retail are not complaining that they can't connect. So I think this has to do with the mod chip. I'm sure that someone will come up with a fix sooner or later. But that would mean that I would have to rip my current mod out. Oh well. Like I said before. If the only choice was to buy another box or not have a mod. I would opt to not use the Live service.

ph34r.gif This might be the way they are not going to let you use backups... ph34r.gif   Even though you are using a "real" cd they might be detecting mod chaips and asume that you have a backup copy. humm ph34r.gif

i think they're also worried about the modchips cause of cheating reasons.  if nobody has a modchip in the box, then nobody can be cheating...

QUOTE (9ign @ Nov 12 2002, 11:49 AM)
OK guys, now I'm pissed off.

It looks like they may have banned our accounts.

I'm running an Xodus chip.  I disabled it and tried the connection wizard again, still getting the XBOX LIVE NOT FOUND error.

so I said FUCK IT and just took the chip out all together and retried, STILL GETTING THE XBOX LIVE NOT FOUND ERROR.

and their tech support still hasn't written me back.

Skunky,

I called them, and had them check my account.  They say it's active and all is well.  They did tell me that the servers were down, however.

I'm not buying it though..
