Xbox Live & Matrix: Good Combo?

You don't need to load the original bios to run live (Why do that?)

And it doesn't matter which bios you use on live. I use evox2.5.ybox.err.colormod and it works fine.

And as for you playing backups, you will have to burn them to the DVD/CDrw to get them to work, unless you decide to use the xbox HDD.

If you plan on just running backups from cd-rw/DVD, get the evox2.5 bios (no ybox or anything else)

If you want to run progs from the HDD
evox2.5.ybox

If you choose ybox, you will have to read up on how to ftp to your xbox to load the evox dash (yboxdash.xbe) to your hdd.

Well, my thinking was that if I run the live update that comes with the newer games while my system is booted with the original bios it would prevent my system from being nuked by the update since it will see that I do have the original bios.  Am I wrong?  If worse comes to worse I'm willing to use my originals to play any xbox live games if that will make it "nuke proof".  Thanks again for the info.

cool.gif  If you plan to run an Evox dashboard via HD (to run games or apps via HD, for example) flash your bios with the ybox mod'd BIOS.  This tells the chip to boot to the yboxdash.xbe file, not the MS Dash.   You leave the MS Dash where it is and let Live update it all it wants...it won't hurt you.

That's the best solution, and what I do.

If you're not interested in using EvoX dash I'd just flash it with evo 2.5 colormod, noani.  If you use any of the bios that have ybox or evox in their name you'll be forced to get EvoX dash running on your xbox (because the bios boots to a differently named dashboard). Colormod is good because you can see if your mod is working or not by the logo color.  I like no animation because I'm sick of seeing the blobby time wasting boot up on the Xbox.
