I got an xbox from a friend with out the orginal hdd in it, when ever i use a hdd from another xbox (legit) it gives me a "06" error. im tryin to tsop it. help any 1?

To use a drive in it with the retail bios, you need to lock the drive with the unique key from the box you want to boot it up on.

the only solution here would be to buy a regular pc HD and install it the same way you would do during a HD upgrade (format and everything) or...

you can also use config magic on the xbox that the HD came from and get the HD key from the eeprom and then transfer the drive and run config magic from dvd and change the HD key to the same as the other xbox so the drive can be used (not sure if this would work cuz i'm not sure if the xbox can boot to dvd without the HD...and i don't wanna try it now

670 posts? Xbox's are not all locked with the same key. Every xbox is different......

i know that ass. dont flame.

Im basically askin how to get that legit hdd to "unlock" and use it so i can boot up 007.

670 post is case modding stuff not technical stuff.

any1 know if config magic would boot from a fresh hdd in an unmodded xbox?

I dont think an original bios is going to allow you to run unsigned software.
Without a locked HD you cant use an exploit or boot the boX.
I think your up a creek without a 3rd party (or homebrew) chip, the boX's HD key, or the original drive.

You can use any standard LPC modchip on that Xbox.

With a hacked bios and an LPC mod chip, the Xbox will boot, and the NEW drive can be locked if you desire to do so.
