As long as you havn't renamed the origional MS dashboard from "xboxdash.xbe" from that setup listed in your post, you're good to go with Live.

P.S. Since you have the ability to do so, it wouldn't hurt to backup C and E to your computer HD before update.

what x-ecuter people need is  a evolution that tells the update to allways look at msxbox dash or a pach for the  live cd  to look at msxboxdash  but u would have to do this on every xbox live game

but is it that hard to use evolution on cdrw the new one has eject fix so it works like haveing it on the hard drive

warbeast is correct, however remeber that in the first post he mentioned that he is NOT using the evox dashboard.

At this point in time, he doesn't have to worry about it.

Since control is passed to the game after launch, the game itself is in total control, not Evolution-X so this is not really feasible.

What would be needed would be a special routing that RENAMES the MSDASH and EVOLUTION-X before launching the game.

The problem lies in restoring everything after game play. E.G. when the default.XBE exits it merely invokes c:\xboxdash.xbe, the now restored MS dashboard.

Doesn't really work does it?

A work around is eliminating the update.xbe file itself, but a ybox/evox bios is a better alternative.

What x-ecuter people really need is a programmer tool. Wasn't this promised to us by the x-ecuter team? I would love to flash my chip with ybox right about now. Booting from cd-rw just takes so damn long compaired to booting the dash off the harddrive.

Unfortunately ybox does nothing for us x-ecutor people. sad.gif

                                    No it doesn't help us.

However a little common sense is all that is needed.

You can FTP to your Xbox and leave the MS Dash as the default. If you are booting games from CD/DVD.

Use a bootable Evolution-X cd to re-configure your Xbox prior to ripping games, etc.

Go ahead and perform the update with the original dash in place...

If you have an installed hard drive, then simply copy the games to the hard disk FIRST and remove the update.xbe and the dashupdate.xbe files.

The update.xbe file is the important one.

If you do this you can restore evolution-X after the update.

Now as long as no one hits "new account" you will have no problems.

Keep a backup of the unmodified and modified C: drive for safety.

^^^^

Yes, I know this. Was just putting my little sad face on the lack of easy ybox solution. Will have no probs (other than the fact that I can't get my darn HD to lock) changing my stuff around for xbox live. It would just be nice to not have to. crosses fingers for someone to finally come up with the lpc flasher for x-ecutor
