One question, can you play backup games with Live if you have the ybox bios installed? Can you create a link from the EVOX dashboard to run LIVE enabled backup games? If yes, how do u create a link?

Thanks

So far the backups work fine on XBLive.

The Beta testors received a pared down version of Whacked, but the retail game is now out.

The Retail version works just fine over Live with a mod chip and when copied to the hard drive.

Not only that, if you play with the retail version you get hooked up to other people using the retail version, not the crippled demo version the Beta Testers received.

This looks promising for XBLive and "backups".

I don't understand your second question?

Why do you need to make a "link" when hard disk games get "autoadded" by Evolution-X?

thank god for yboxdash.xbe i was playing whacked and i had a look at xboxlive  with out telling me it updated my c drive noooooooooo shit cow bitch slag i  said  but all was cool because mt xboxdash.xbe was the same  rebooted got evolution on yes  only thing is because i d/l the game i dont have the code to join 15 nov   biggrin.gif

Yes this is exactly what it does.

Had it not found the MS dashboard, it STILL would have attempted the update, but it would have trashed the MSdashboard you had on the drive in the process.

So if you did not have a backup, you would be SOL.

This is going to byte the people who install EVOLUTION-X's dash without a LAN connection to perform a backup of their drive first.

AGAIN: BACK UP YOUR DRIVE!!!!

Well, im not planning on installing a Harddrive, rather doing the DVD tutorial here http://www.xbox-scen...es/dvddrive.php and backing it up on Media.

Thats why I was asking, when you load up the backup DVD through evox dashboard, will all the live functionality still be available? Will you still be able to play online with other using backups and the ybox bios?

So far YES no problems w/backups. This will probably change at some point as MS has stated that they wil be checking for "originals"...

We'll see.

Ugh on the PC-DVD though.

I've had no trouble with backups, and the bigger hard drive rocks.

well, the reason for getting a PC DVD drive would be that not all games would be required to be burned on DVD Media correct? Not all games are that big, and would fit on a CDR 700MB CD.
Yes, I guess the Bigger HDD is the best route to take, i'll look into, but to me, having the backups on CD appeals to me more, dunno why ohmy.gif

Given the cost of DVD-R media, ease of use, aestetics, etc. This is a non-issue for me.

DVD-R is the way to go for Xbox "backups". At (now) $0.68 each disk, it's a no brainer for me.

I don't particularly care for keeping the Xbox open to use a PC -DVD, nor loosing the ability to boot up originals.

Try for a pre-modded box from a reliable seller if you can.

It is a good idea to be able to play your XBOX in "Retail" mode. For the X-ecuter community, install a switch, and disable the mod chip while booting off the retail dash. It takes about 15 seconds to boot with an Evo-X CD. Then, you wouldn't need to worry about XBL disks accidently (or purposefully) nuking the XBOX C: drive. The only purpose of having Evo-X on the XBOX HDD is to rip games.

I beg to differ on that last comment a bit.

I flashed the TSOP and installed a larger drive. The Xecutor offers a nice "failed flash" backup... so Evolution-X is my hard disk based game, program launcher.

So for me at least, it has uses other than to rip games.

I have a question, just asking, cause I don't really "know"...... And I don't want to sound like a complete dip-shit but if the XBOX gets Live Updated opjose, cause a few people have had this happen that don't come here, (Shame Shame) see I am about to mod my sons Box with an Xecuter chip, I was going to put all the games he wants on a brand spanking new 80 g HD. Lets say he blows it and pulls the live thing. I have the games completely backed up on disks. Couldn't I totally wipe the drive and start over? I mean I have seen people on other forums screaming how they have to go out and buy a new X-Box now, I know that starting from ground zero would absolutely suck, but isn't that a little easier than buying a new box? Sorry I may be understanding wrong, and remember I am very green at this.

If you backup your C & E partitions you have no trouble.

Xbox live could even wipe your hard drive clean, and you could recover to a working Xbox again.

This is the key.

I went as far as burning my C & E drives to CD rom for safety, while keeping the original drive untouched.

Anything goes wrong, I've got a copy of the files on the PC. Pc blows up, I've got the CD, new hd goes I've got the old.

You should make sure that you have on hand a bootable EVOLUTION-X disk that has the proper networking settings. That way you can always boot from the CD and restore the partitions, etc.

Eh, they do have to copy down the files from the original though.

Same probs as fullhack

PAL Xbox modded with enigmah... (no other hardware changes)  and not running Evo-X.... and no back-up of drive C: !!!

No probs to play games but no more access to the configuration panel or possibilities to play DVD movies.

Anyway it's done...

Is there a tool that will allow me to reformat the partition c: of the hd as new?

I don't care to lose some savegames!!!

thanks in advance
