Xbox Live Starter Disk Failed
« on: September 27, 2002, 11:07:00 AM »

I also read that post. Some folks are claiming that it does work. They said the dipped the disc in boiling water for about 20 to 30secs and they said it worked fine afterwards. Why no try it if your getting a replacement anyways. Let us know if it works or not? Its worth a shot, the disc is already faulty right? So do it.. smile.gif

Yeah, remember though, no more than 30 seconds!

Otherwise it will taste awful! laugh.gif

or rip the disk to hdd, and run from there, or burn it to a dvd, or a cd-rw, or dl it. Many ways, all i know is i dl it, and im watching the main video better than beta testers.

He's right. The original Xbox Live disk is also in "retail" format.

So you cannot read it on your PC.

Evolution X is of no help if you can't read the disk on your Xbox anyway.

So, 30 seconds with a pinch of salt does wonders to it's taste. jester.gif

QUOTE (PiMP- @ Oct 22 2002, 03:03 AM)
I'm sorry but that whole idea just seems stupid to me. Boiling a disc? wtf

Yes it may sounds stupid, but it's true. It works.

There is a thin film on the disks that the boiling removes. This film is causing most of the problems with the laser pickup.

I buy that...

Also try performing the update from another Live Game, such as Whacked.
