Xbl With An Open Box!?!?!
« on: September 23, 2002, 04:25:00 AM »

Ok I realize this probably has been covered before but I need to ask, I have a cooling fan, 60 gig Maxtor hd, and the open box mod on the way to me, also, I have the xbl beta kit on the way, from your thoughts about this, or your experience, or your knowledge of what you've read or heard, should I install open box and play on xbl with it with an upgraded hd?  I was just going to boot retail every time I played with it but do it with the 60 gig, is this safe?  Will it work?  Will it try to write to a 8 gig hd and be confused when it's 60?  I was going to get the trios hd selector and case and play it safe and boot up with default but don't want to if I don't have to, I was still going to buy all real xbl games and just play others with mod, would you do the same?  So basically I'm wonderinf if I can or should install open box and xbl and play with retail boot and upgraded hd, thanks

See the magnifying glass at the top of the page?
It permits you to search for keywords.

Give it a try.

...yeah I know how to use a search, and it didn't help out too much, is it that hard to help a person out?  Isn't that was message boards are for?  Everyone's always dissing other people for asking ?s they think are dumb or have went over, I've looked through every topic and was't satisfied with the info I read, so I asked my ?s my way, so I could be specific in my ?ing, thank you

I posted the answers you "seek" before. (heh).

1) The magnifying glass does work. Use it, love it.
2) Yes the Beta will work.
3)  XBLive will replace the existing dashboard when it's finally released in November. You will have to restore your original dash (after backing it up of course) before you insert the RETAIL DVD.
4) Afterwards you will save off your newly serialized update MSDash.
5) There is a RUMOR that XBLive final will reformat your drive if it in any way altered. It is supposed to restore things to normal sizes...This rumor is attributed to MS but unconfirmed.
6) Re-Typing on my part is not a convenience, the magnify glass is a good thing.
7) You get far more sympathy by stating "I saw this thread, but I wanted elaboration" etc. for already answered questions.
