System Link Through Router

I'm having a problem getting my xbox to connect to other xbox's on my university network while its plugged into my D-Link router. I've tried forwarding ports 88 and 3074 (I believe that's those are the ports) via Virtual Server on the router to my xbox after giving it a static ip from the router as well as placing the ip of the xbox in the DMZ of the router, but I still can't see other people's games. It works fine when plugged into the wall, just not while plugged into the router.

My xbox is just a plain vanilla xbox - no modding or anything.

Any ideas?
