Online Play Without Live/switch/router/hub

Can anybody please help me get online with my xbox. I currently have my xbox setup so that I can use ftp with my PC. But now I want go further and connect my xbox to my adsl line (which my PC is connected to) and play with other online gamers. Trouble is I dont know where to start or which is the best way to go either using xbconnect go via my PC or use xlink?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
