Xlink is also down.  Perhaps they are playing with that upcoming unification?

Enigmatl,

Theres 1 massive difference between XLink and Live... apart from the obvious difference in the number of users... that difference is cost... $50 / year versus $0 / ever ..

Also, XLink and XBConnect allow u to play games online which live does not support.. Halo, Brute force etc..

XBC is probably only temporarily down - and XLink (according to the log) was  never down...

Oh I agree.  The programs don't suck.  The people that made them and the idea DEFINATELY doesn't suck, it's in fact a great idea.  But what sucks is it is not catching on.  I haven't seen them break 400 users.   I do like the idea of playing games that support system link and I've been telling people on Live about it.  (because I'd like to see some communicator users on there)  But let's face it.  Until you can sign onto there and be able to find a game you want, it sucks as a replacement for live.  HOWEVER as a suppliment to Live, I will say that these programs are absolutely the bomb.  At least until the coming year unfolds and it is a year where Live has been fully launched and at that time, all system link enabled games should also be Live games.  But, any of you who like these services, you need to probably be promoting the hell out of them through your friends, forums, and even to people that you talk to regularly on your live account.  (I wouldn't just start chat-spamming it on live though but I tell people on there that I talk to regularly)

Enigma, Im happy with my xbconnect. Live is amazing yes but it also costs which none of these do. AND you have to buy your games to play on live i dont. Dont get me wrong im not dogging live because i know its the shit and if i didnt have a modded box that would be the way. But i do have a modded xbox and im all about the freebies. XBconnect serves me well. 300 users are plenty for me. Im sure if i really wanted to i could get gamespy and play the games and i know that has well over 300 users... So stick to your live and ill stick to my freebies!

I am a very patient person.  But I think it would be a responsible move on their part to notify their users of what's going on.  Hacked?  Crashed?  Upgrade?  Long term downage / short term downage expected?  It could be covered in 2 minutes of typing and 2 lines of text.  It would let us know that they're on it and though they don't OWE this to us, due to the minimal amount of effort involved in this act vs how courteous it would be to do it, I just feel that it's the right thing to do.

Im hoping that it becomes more popular but its up to us to advertize it and get more people playing. Im trying to talk in people to get thier xbox's modded and if they do they will be on xbconnect also!
