I just won shanafan's little EEPROM giveaway, which turned out to destroy my Xbox. After updating the EEPROM using the instructions given with the EEPromer program (also the same instructions on the EEPROM tutorial on Xbox-scene), the xbox went weird for a second. The color went odd and the image was stretched. I tried restarting so i could put in an Xbox Live game and see if the EEPROM upgrade worked, and now the system won't even boot up. The eject light flashes red and nothing comes up on the screen. What did I do?!

Why didn't you use Configmagic? Sounds maybe like you used a PAL EEPROM on a NTSC Xbox. I stated this in my tutorial or you tried updating the EEPROM with a locked HD.

I think there is a tutorial in the Xbox-Scene tutorials about recovering your Xbox from this.

EEPROMER is not the best application for this.

Where is this tutorial you're talking about? I can't find it on the site. And btw, I used EEPrommer because this website's tutorial said to use it. I usually trust the Xbox-scene tutorials, but I guess now I know to double...maybe triple-check, before I proceed with something like this.

Anyways, where's this tutorial to fix my problem?

So, when you boot your Xbox, what happens? Do you get an error message?

Can you boot an EvolutionX CD?

That's the problem - I CAN'T boot my Xbox. I press Power and the eject button just flashes red. Nothing happens, just a flashing red eject button : /

PM "undead" with your problem. He might be able to help you, since he wrote the tutorial that the dead link should go to.

I sent him a PM...hopefully he replies soon. I'm used to things going wrong with computers, but I don't think I can live long without my Xbox. I'll go insane

Just want to update the situation. undead has helped me A LOT so far, and has given me lots of valuable information that makes sense. I'll post a new message/tutorial, if anyone thinks it may be necessary, after I finish talking with undead and after my Xbox has been fully restored.

Btw, if you read this undead, thanks A LOT! Nice to see someone who'd take time out of their life to help a poor, idiot like me who can't follow the right directions.

And thanks to you too shanafan for referring me to undead and helping me through this problem. And, of course, for the EEPROM

just wanted to ad thats not the eeprom thats wrong...i did send the eeproms to shan for giving away them to ppl needing them...and if u say that this eeprom wasnt good how do u think i feel ...do u still want me to help out the ppl out there or do u want me to just ignore everyone and let them be banned from live...and in shanafans post he even told u ppl to use configmagic..its the easyest way to change your eeprom...cause the eeproms coming from are almost all pal eeproms .... so so....

its good to know they are pal beforehand though... trikster please share the info you may have learned from undead esp if the tut that used to exist is now a dead link.

When you were using EEPROMER... did you make sure that you unlocked the hard drive before you flashed the EEPROM... it happened to me and I was without my Xbox for a week... I couldn't STAND it!
