i just wanted to know if my cable internet is fast
enough for XBL: 256k download on IE my downloads go around 30-40kbps
                                64k upload

so should i buy XBL, or would it not work, or just go really sllloooww, or is that good enough blink.gif  blink.gif  blink.gif

You should be just fine playing. You won't be able to host a game though. It will get really slow if you do.
