Wait a minute....now everyone (including Shanafan) is going back on their word.  I always thought that even if you accessed live with the mod on your eeprom would get flagged and the next time you connected to live you would be banned (even if you were unplugged).

THEN, a week, or 2 or 3 for all I remember Shafan you said in a post that you connected or something to live with the cable unplugged and you never got banned.  You also claimed to have said that all along.  Whats the real deal here?

There it is in the moto gp pin.  Quote Accessing Live with the cable unplugged, modchip on, will NOT result in a ban. - Shanafan.

Make up your mind people.

No, I am not going back on my word at all. Re-read what I am posting, as you are assuming too much as what I am talking about.

This is about connecting to Live in the MS dash with the cable unplugged.

Connecting to Live in a game with the cable unplugged with not result in a ban.

I am not sure about the MS dash part though, just need someone to test it.

No, I mean't with an unbanned box.  I thought the topic was wether or not your eeprom was altered when you tried to access live with a mod chip.  If it's not and people are getting banned then yes it must be on the hard drive.  I've read that your live account is embeded in the fatx file system somewhere.  We could do the same test with hard drives though it would require a bit more time.

unlock hdd, put it in a pc and dump it to your pc.  (use Dolly or some such tool), put it back in your xbox, and try go live with mod chip on, cable unplugged), put it back in pc and re-dump it. Then compare.

Ok, now you aren't making sense. Put the HD in your PC? Um, a Xbox HD won't work in your PC.

Your Xbox Live account is not the same as your EEPROM.

This might turn out to be kind of a silly question, but I just wanted to know and couldn't find the answer anywhere.

Let's say I take my original EEPROM, and flash it to one of the banks of an X2pro chip. If I turn the chip on, but it's booting from the bank with the EEPROM loaded into it, would M$ detect that on live?

You flash your modchip with a BIOS, not an EEPROM.

I've accessed the updated MS Dashboard with my mod turned on many times and havent been banned, however i have never clicked the Xbox Live tab, i think that may flag your eeprom for banning.

Yeah, thanks for the input....  rolleyes.gif

I access my MS dash with the Live selection all the time with the modchip on. But, I don't access Live. That is what we are talking about.

While it's true that your pc won't be able to access any files on your xbox hdd, your pc will know that a your xbox hard drive exists and be able to do raw disk reads and writes (assuming you've unlocked it).  Dolly is a simple dos based tool that I found that works on raw sectors.  With it you can say duplicate an xbox hdd or dump the contents of your xbox hdd into a big file on your pc.  So the theory goes that if the contents change between attempts, then yes a ban may result.  If the contents of the drives before and after the attempt are identical, then there is no hdd-flag.  If the contents are not the same, then there may or may not be an hdd-flag.

What about the Xbox HD caching?

BTW, the EEPROM lies on the Xbox's motherboard, not on the HD.

Caching is done in memory and isn't going to make a difference.  Yes,  the eeprom is of course on the mother board, but someone before had suggested that there was a hdd flag somewhere not an eeprom flag.
