finally installed XBConnect today.  It's pretty cool that you can play online.  Halo is the only game anyone plays though.  I think I saw 1 Ghost Recon server and that was it, kind of stinks that people only host like 3 games and thats it.  I'd love to play some other games instead of just Halo.

This is true I'm just skeptical that people won't play since it seems every1 just wants to play Halo.  I'll give a whirl though!

The thing that I don't like about XBconnect is that half the people on it are total assholes. If you are not super elite at the game or don't have 2+ people on your Xbox, they kick you. It's hard to find a game with beginners.

Reading through this thread makes me wonder how many times we have to tell people that Tunneling software and XBLive have NOTHING to do with eachother. LoL
There are more than just XBC, one of the most popular is Gamespy Tunnel, but I seem to get better speeds on XBC even though it usually takes for freaking ever for someone to join my room, Ive been keeping an eye one XLink, they seem to be upgrading almost daily I think it might catch on once it gets a bit less beta.

I agree completely:

on a similar note though. I've seen that game spy has a similar system where they emulate a large LAN. I have a few friends with un moded boxes who use it religiously instead of live ('cause its free and we're cheap college types). I've never tried with games from the HDD it'd be interesting to see if it'd work. I bet it would.

Yeah, xbconnect is a nice concept. Unfortunately,  it's mostly Halo that is played on there and it's hard for a noob like me to get a game going since they kick you right away. Another downside is if your pc is in one room and your big screen is in another. It's hard to keep going back and forth, especially if you like to chat via keyboard while playing. Also, most of the servers are very laggy. I know this all sounds negative and it is but I will end it with a positive. If you do manage to connect to a good server running Halo, then it makes it all worthwhile.

Holy shit I just wanna say I played on xbconnect for the first time yesterday and it was better than wearing socks with sandals! I played like 10 hours straight and only played on one laggy server once. I hosted most of my own games, mainly Halo, but had a great time. The program's really easy to get used to. If you have highspeed, get some friends over and play a few games. Even though I was playing single yesterday and didn't really have any problems.

What is the difference between xbconnect and Gamespy tunnel? Same functionality?
Will Gamespy Tunnel get me banned with a mod chip?

Gamespy = Lag .

Xbconnect = no-Lag .

okay...I have a Live account and a XBConnect account. I want to play using my backup on HD so I need to have my mod turned on.

Let's say I want to play my backup of Castle Wolfenstein on XBConnect. So...as long as I ONLY SELECT SYSTEM LINK I am okay. BUT if I'm drunk and accidentally select Xbox Live I will be banned becasue my mod would be turned on.

Is that what all of you are doing when you want to play the game off your hard drive on XBConnect?

YES, we just select system link. Select Live with the modchip on and you will be banned.

GOT IT?
