Yo i had kinda a similar problem like this..i got Error 06 which meant the Hard drive COULDNT BE UNLOCKED! No worries my brother just popped the xbox hard drive into his computer and unlocked it with the Hard drive KEY (make sure u have that SOMEWHERE ON YOUR COMPUTER SINCE YOUR XBOX IS FRIED) and then use UnlockX to unlock the hard drive...simple as that!

I get error 13
13 - kernel - Dashboard launch fail (due to missing/bad key, or anything else that would prevent it from running) and the dashboard didn't specify why it failed

at last.. sorted
Config magic wasn`t providing the correct locking code.
Should have checked this at the start... the backup file had a different locking code which worked using hdlock on the pc
