Do you have your old HD? Try using that again. If it works, transfer your account to a memory unit. Install the upgraded HD back in, and transfer over account.

No problems here with files "missing" when transfering back. The only file that doesn't come over when you transfer drives back is your Xbox Live account which is encoded in your XBox's FatX file system.

Xbox Live is installed on C under 'xodash'
