Communicator Over Speakers

Hi all,
Im new @ this forum, and just for one reason.
They don`t sell that nifty little 1 -> 2 convertors for 2,5mm plugs here in the Netherlands. So i have to build something myself. And i need some directions on what the different wires exactly DO....... Which one is for the mic, and witch one is for the speaker? I`m planning on making the following:
                       CONTROLLER
communicator`s 2,5mm contra
                                 | |
                                  |
                         2,5mm plug
                             |        |
                    _ wire           wire _
          3,5mm contra       2,5mm contra
                   | |                         | |
Now u can connect the headset on the 2,5mm, and anything else on the 3,5mm

I`m planning on using my tv speakers. Just by using a splitter at one of those cone plugs coming from your xbox (the red and white one, i dunno how they r called in english) So the voices will come from either the left or right speaker, beside the normal sound.  :P I hope it works without having to amplify the signal. So the reason i want to make it like this, is because it sux to watch someone play and talk, while the spectating friends dont know where they r talking about. But i dont want the tv speakers to act like a mic, bedause that wouldn`t work right (the sound from my game would be broadcasted i guess).

So the question is wich wires do i have to connect to what location. so that only the sound is coming from the speaker(s), and it/they wont work as a mic? To be more clear: Witch wires from the 2,5mm plug do i have to connect to wich spot on the 3,5mm contra?

Tnx in advance

Ok, i made this little drawing of how i want to do it now. My plan changed a bit, but the question stays, what do i have to connect to make sure the speakers wont work as a mic.

The "/" means its a convertor, the text is in dutch, so maybe a bit hard to understand, but u get the idea.

This way i can choose to put the voice over the TV speakers, but i`m also able to unplug that and plug in a second headset (with a 2,5mm/3,5mm convertor), so me and a friend can talk together.

So wich wire is responsible for the mic function?

I got a solution, wich is different from what i`ve stated b4. When i`m finished, i`ll make a tutorial.

In this tutorial, i`ll try to explain how i made myself a splitter for the communicator.
In my little project, i made 2 different things.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First i made a splitter wich makes 2 ports out of the single port u got on the communicator. This one is only needed if those standard 2,5mm splitters aren`t for sale where you live.

U NEED:
- 2 pieces of cable, with 3 leads (actually 2 leads and a ground (possibly 2 grounds, wich can be bound together))
- 1 2,5mm solderable plug
- 2 2,5mm solderable contra`s
HOWTO:
This one doesn`t need alot of explaination. Just join the leads of the 2 cables together, and solder the 3 different leads, (red/white/ground) to the same spot on all the plugs. Some logical thinking will do the trick.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Second, i made a little cable that converts 2,5mm male into 2 3,5mm Females. 1 for the sound and 1 for the mic, so u can connect some stand-alone speakers (or your tv) and a stand-alone microphone (or the line-out of your PC).

U NEED:
- a piece of cable, with 2 leads with their OWN ground. (or just 4 leads)
- 1 2,5mm solderable plug
- 2 3,5mm solderable contra`s
HOWTO:
This one is a bit tougher to make, but it still is a matter of logical thinking.
-step1: Solder the 2 leads and the joint grounds to the 2,5mm plug on their appropriate spot.
-step2: Solder 1 of the lead`s to both the solderpoints on the 3,5mm Contra. (also connect his own ground)
-step3: Solder the second lead to the other 3,5mm contra in the same way. (also connect his own ground)

By soldering the single lead to both points, u can hear the sound in stereo, because the mono signal is put on both the left and right channel of the 3,5mm contra. Same counts for the mic, It will bring the stereo input back to mono.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With this setup, u have some choices:
- 1 headset
- 2 headset`s
- 1 headset + voices over speakers (for friends listening pleasure)
- 1 headset + voices over speakers + xtra stand-alone microphone
- 1 headset + voices over speakers + connection to the line-out of your pc
And ofcourse any other combination that fits.

Especially the connection with your pc is THE BEST, because now, it`s possible to broadcast goofy sounds directly from your pc to the ppl on Xboxlive!

To put the voices over the TV speakers, u`ll need a cable that splits the incoming sound from your TV.
I tried this, and it didn`t work well with my TV. It wouldn`t broadcast the game sound AND the voices, but only 1 at a time. I did got it working though, but only because there was an xtra connection for in-line sound on my TV.

There are alot of other ways to accomplish a setup like this and there are as much different uses for it, just TRY IT.

Since i`m not really done yet, i`ll be editing this post to completion.  Also there are some words i don`t know in english, therefore cutting on my ability to explain things.
