You my friend want to seek out the tutorial section to find out how and where to put a switch. But it seems that is the least of your problems. Since your brother doesn't want you to put a mod chip in the system it seems that you won't be installing any modchips any time soon anyway. Plus, since he lives and breathes on-line play I could see some serious problems popping up if he finds the system has been banned from live because someone forgot to turn the mod off before going on-line.
I think the best thing to do would be to buy a second xbox. One for him and his obsession with Live and one for you and your mod chip.
