Is there a way you can connect the Xbox (ethernet) to an USB (DSL) modem directly or do you have to connect to PC then modem from Xbox.

OK let me point out that the person I am talking about has 2 connections, on 2 phone lines and has one for the internet (main PC) and one for laptop and is willing to take out laptop to connect xbox to the internet, but it has a USB and not a ethernet on it

1) download files to computer
2) network xbox to computer
3) ftp files to computer (emu, roms, wutever)
thats about it. just install them based on emus instructions.
remember... roms are illegal if u dont have original blablabla

about the hd, for oldschool roms u dont need a very big one.. but if u plan on puttin somethin bigger then snes n n64 roms u might wanna go for maybe a 60, 80, or even 120 gb hd
