QUOTE (2_COOL @ Dec 1 2002, 03:24 AM)
that you don't need a computer to play live. Is this true? If I went out and bought a cable modem and a router I wouldn't need a computer? I have one, I was just wondering if I could just skip the monthly fee....

What monthly fee does your computer charge?  The only monthly fee I know of is for broadband service and maybe next year there will be one for xbox live.  Computer or not you still have to pay per month for broadband.  And if you don't want to use your pc as well as the xbox live then there is no need for a router, just direct connect modem to xbox.

No, um, lol, you will still need to pay a monthly fee for the broadband service. You can't just buy a cable modem or even a dialup modem and not pay a monthly fee (of course there are free dialup services but that isn't the point here)

Yes, you can play Live through Comcast. Just directly connect your Xbox to your cable modem.

I don't know about renting or buying. I would say rent one because that is what I am doing. And, if it breaks or whatever, I can easily get a new one right from Comcast.
