i wouldn't recommend doing this, but if you do, at least take your chip out!!!  sale it or put it in a different box.

i'd do it.  in fact i am going to do it tomorrow.  but i had a no solder modchip, and what i'm going to do, is claim that they sold me a refurb. box, and that MS said the xbox was modified or repaired, and won't work with xbox live, so i need to return it.   then, even if they see the box has been opened, they'd think it's because it was a refurb. box.

Here is an idea realize that you screwed up and don't force all of us to have to pay more because you are stupidity.  What are you a former exec from Enron or just a dipshit you knew the risks, you accepted those risks, and now you are screwed.

Be very careful with doing this.  Ask a friend of mine about this and this is considered theft.  If you registered the box it will come back to you.  You are not stealing from M$ you are stealing from the store and that is simple theft.  Hope you don't get caught.

Let me ask you this...if people like you didn't rip off the Wal Marts and Targets of the world would I be paying the same amount for the items I purchase.  What I stated was an example using the Xbox but applies to all items used everyday.  If you buy something, you break it, then you take it back and say it doesn't work somebody has to pay for that and it isn't going to be the manufacturer or the retailer it is going to be the end user (a.k.a. the consumer) (a.k.a. me).  I am not saying don't pirate the games I am saying if you screw something up realize it was your fault (not MSs - read your xbox license agreement you broke it) and deal with it.  Don't let your own stupidity screw everything up for all consumers.

Sure xbox live's cd did mess up your dashboard but in the EULA it tells you it's not for modded xboxs. This is you own damn fault. Plus there are those pinned topics at the top of this forum that tell you that this will happen. Also, your xbox is easily restorable to the old state by simply copying a backup of your c drive back to it or did you completly disregard those parts of the evox tutorials? This is your fuckup. Don't make others pay for it.

I traded a banned modded xbox to a buddy for a non-modded one. He doesnt have and has no plans of high-speed internet.

I warned him about updates/new account buttons so that he does not nuke his box since he boots off the HD. To the best of my knowledge there is no way to boot X-ecuter v1's in an evoxdash or yboxdash manner so its not Xboxlivedash safe unless you use CD. And please correct me if I am wrong but there is no flash utility for those chips??

In the end he got a modded XBOX and I got back on XBLive without scamming the retail system or hack methods. So it worked out good for both of us. And to top it off he got my nifty Xskins I bought from XBOXWrapper.

So you may want to opt for the same and find peops that you know are hooked on phone modems for atleast another 1-2 years or just the type that wont spend the extra $15 over AOL for High-Speed plus another $49.95/yr for XBLive. Trust me there are plenty of them

Ooops..Note: I should tell ya that I do have another XBOX with Matrix installed, 80G, searching for a 120G right now or can I use a 160G, which is the limit if any? Didnt want anyone thinking the XBLive ban thing converted me or something  Geez imagine how big, Bills head would expand then....

120 gig is the largest you can put in the xbox or a computer for that matter. Anything larger requires a special ide controller card which you can't simply put into an xbox.

                                    thanks aGeMo

QUOTE (Embalmer @ Nov 26 2002, 04:07 PM)
Well after much consideration I've decided to just sell my busted xbox on Ebay.  Im sure it will be easily restored by someone who wants to mess with it....

/sigh

As somebody else here said, if it was just an XBL update that "somehow fucked (your) dash" then just replace your C:\ with the backup of the 'virgin' c:\ and you're good to go.
