I'm a bit confused as to why you need originals for Live to update the game.  Do they detect copies during the update process?

Also, nobody has answered the whole blacklist issue.  Is it even true?  Will this technique work if your blacklistd?

Because you can't use copied or HD games to update Live on your system because most modded Xboxes can't connect to Live.

opjose,
what is your position on this thread?

It doesn't make sense to me, but I'm open to anything that may work.

This raises a few questions:

1 - Have the people with modded multi-bios systems EVER dropped to the updated dashboard with the mod chip or bios switched ON?

2 - Have the people with the modded multi-bios system EVER dropped to the XBLive tab on the updated dashboard with the mod chip switched on?

3 - Points one and two again, but this time AFTER that first downloaded "in game" update.

4 - If the answer to  these are NO I can understand how this works, and this confirms my findings vis-a-vis the dashboard "reporting in".

In effect their Xbox is never given the opportunity to run MS's detection code with the mod chip switched on.

This is no different than installing a switch and re-enabling the ON BOARD original BIOS in the TSOP and unmodified DASHBOARD.

And NEVER EVER using the updated dashboard or XBLive with the mod chip turned on.

In this case everything is consistent.

Please make tutorial and submit it please...

I have an enigmah and now adays people are not talking about it as much..

I have enigmah ...2 switches installed already..and tsop flashed (which can be reversed) .. new hard drive will be locked soon so live will play...live not installed yet.. so not banned ..

I just want to know where I fit in to this and how much modifying IF any i need to do?  or if the switches already installed on 15 & 21 are fine..are these the points you refer to?  so basically turn off and on the mod with original bios installed ..  (basically like mode 3 on matrix)  correct?

Thank you!

can someone try something?

boot up with the modchip, and click the game loading form hard drive option.  clikc to load the game, then physically remove the modchip from the system.

i'm still finding it hard to believe that the modchip is detected based on what's in memory.  i think an actual call is being made on the chip, and if it isn't there, it will be fine.

if anyone thinks this might work, or knows it won't, please let me know.

also remember that i'm talking about the matrix modchip which is no solder.  so you can just hold the chip over the points with your hand, then once it's loaded, remove the chip.  this is a long shot, but it's worth a try none the less.

another thing.  if the bios is booted into memory, is there no way to change that?  i mean there are memory manager programs for pc, and if you were to replace the evox bios [if modchip is really being detected by bios in memory] with the original one, would that work?

anyways, something along those lines.   i think the important thing is finding out when and how the chip is detected, and to find a way to bypass that.

thanks opjose and zander and the rest for your work!

no, it won't fry it.  chips become mis-aligned while console is on, and the beginning test mode where the box is on, and you wiggle the chip around to get a nice fit.  those would fry it.

i don't think this would fry anything if you removed it properly.  this is just a test method to see if physically removing the modchip will work.  i just don't want to risk my xbox because i've already exchanged it for another box once, and can't do it again, and i have no cash.  so, yeah.

anyways, i wonder if anything good can come out of this.  wel, then we'd know that it checks the memory, and no communication with the modchip.  that's a good thing to be 100% sure about, no?
