i'm still finding it hard to believe that the modchip is detected based on what's in memory.  i think an actual call is being made on the chip, and if it isn't there, it will be fine.

That would be difficult to impliment as MS would have to have knowledge of every type of modchip. What is probably happening is the Xboxdash.xbe is taking a CRC of the BIOS and if it doesn't match with known MS ones it's flagging it as modded.

This might go some way to explaining why unmodded consoles are getting banned, as people may have changed something in the BIOS the CRC checking routines didn't take acount of.

QUOTE (Katonta @ Nov 20 2002, 07:14 AM)
opjose,
what is your position on this thread?

It doesn't make sense to me, but I'm open to anything that may work.

This raises a few questions:

1 - Have the people with modded multi-bios systems EVER dropped to the updated dashboard with the mod chip or bios switched ON?

2 - Have the people with the modded multi-bios system EVER dropped to the XBLive tab on the updated dashboard with the mod chip switched on?

3 - Points one and two again, but this time AFTER that first downloaded "in game" update.

4 - If the answer to  these are NO I can understand how this works, and this confirms my findings vis-a-vis the dashboard "reporting in".

In effect their Xbox is never given the opportunity to run MS's detection code with the mod chip switched on.

This is no different than installing a switch and re-enabling the ON BOARD original BIOS in the TSOP and unmodified DASHBOARD.

And NEVER EVER using the updated dashboard or XBLive with the mod chip turned on.

In this case everything is consistent.

1. when u have the multibios in y would u drop ur xboxlive dash when u turn the switch off it boots to the xboxdash, when switch is on it boots to evox. Not to hard is it. But then again there r some pretty stupid ppl ive seen in this scene so then u never know.

2. With the games, u need to go rent them n keep mod switch off then allow them to do there thing by doing there update, once it updates once u can play copies from then on, but i dont suggest using copies to update, if it works more power to u.

So far ive had alot of ppl happy, And they know who they r, Im not hard to find and alot of u guys know what im about so its all good. I didnt really have the time for this shit but i did it cause some idiot taking stuff i said in irc that was to be kept internal till i was ready. but its cool

oh yea 1 more thing. add this to the guide if u copy n paste it i sent it to xbox-scene.com. But i repeat add this in cause i dont want to hear u guys fuckn up ur xbox's

When u want to reflash ur bios MAKE SURE U DONT HAVE THE WIRES GROUND OR UR ASKN FOR IT. just take the wires off the switch or metal casing then flash...

Enjoy

hang on if u boot with evolutionx or other bios than turn mod off your xbox will still see that bios untill u reboot it has to reboot to see msbios again if there is a way to change bios without rebooting i would love to knowbut i dont think it can be done

think about it if u flash with evolutionx it says  the xbox will now reboot thats to kick the new bios u flashed in dont turn your mods off with the xbox still on your lucky its not fucked

no, it won't fry it.  chips become mis-aligned while console is on, and the beginning test mode where the box is on, and you wiggle the chip around to get a nice fit.  those would fry it.

i don't think this would fry anything if you removed it properly.  this is just a test method to see if physically removing the modchip will work.  i just don't want to risk my xbox because i've already exchanged it for another box once, and can't do it again, and i have no cash.  so, yeah.

anyways, i wonder if anything good can come out of this.  wel, then we'd know that it checks the memory, and no communication with the modchip.  that's a good thing to be 100% sure about, no?

you are correct..I just dont want to see any ppl with sweaty hands or any drool fall into the xbox while turned on  wink.gif

warbeast.  that's my point exactly.  now, you say the bios is in memory, and it will read from that.  we are not SURE about that yet.  take the matrix for example..  even if you turn it off, there ARE connection points of the modchip still there, and i'm now sure how it would wokr, but MS might know a way to check for that.

asides from that, i also mentioned that if it IS stored in memory, someone should look at changing the info inside the memory.

anyways.  this will, even if it fails, let us know more about xbox's detection method.

i dunno either, but i know i still get an error code with the chip off. I highly doubt it but could they be testing reaction time? i dont think so but this seems logical (the idea they can test for it)

i'm not that big into electronics to be able to comment on it.  i'm just concerned that since there ARE pins connected to those spots, and the do go SOMEWHERE to the modchip, and that's different from the actual board layout, it MIGHT be detectable.   keep in mind again, that i'm not a big electrician.  i have no idea which ways MS might check for modchips, so that's why i'm trying to be cautious about the whole thing.

no its not that simple.

when u use this multibios i put together for the original, when they check u have it on original xbox then when they do the ram check it matches up cause i added it in to match the original bios from the 4034 bios, so i got it pretty much coverd.

the only way ms will zap it is if ur a dumb ass n leave write axx on ur tsop.
then thats ur problem for not thinking....
