as soon as i read the news i tried my beta cd with it. no go. i went to the troubleshooting and it said "Cannot Connect Due To Technical Difficulties." then i tried it with the retail disc which i just got in the mail today, still doesnt work. i really think its a server problem. there is no doubt in my mind that it is a server problem. with all these people getting Live early, they werent prepared for this many people online that early and it probably threw them off a little bit. since others with mods can still connect, im sure thats all this is.

also guys, what if like whacked and motogp are hosted by MS (i think motogp is) which explains why server problems might make it hard for us to get connected. and maybe fever beta 2003 is p2p which makes it easier on those servers, and which also explains why we can connect to fever but (i at least) always get disconnected in the middle of the game?

is this plausible?

thing is, they could be doing last minute adjustments, server restarts and a billion other things to get the retail version started. So it is plausible that they are having server problems, plus even at teamxbox some people complained about big lags (even without modchips) so it proves the servers aren't quite there yet.
Just cause they're being tweaked now, does not mean they wont be ready in 3 days... They're not stupid, they're not going to launch a service with server problems when the whole point is of the service being revolutionary and "perfect"...

One thing is to tweak a server for performance, the other is to tweak a server on a way that users with modded boxes can't log on it

. If this is what they're doing, then we can rest assured that they'll free a lot of network connections by not allowing people with modded boxes to log in

... and there're quite a few out there.

i agree with pvwr. the evidence seems pretty overwhelming that most people with mod chips CANNOT sign on. sure it could be a lot of things like server issues or tweaking, but i know of someone that lives down the hall from me (i live in a dorm) and they can connect fine through the dashboard using an unmodded system and i can't get on with my modded one. plus if you look at general xbox live boards there aren't that many people complaining. if you disregard the few that are complaining, it seems the system is acting fine for almost everyone. this is far too much of a coincidence to be called a general server problem.

i guess none of us will know for sure until friday, but it's not looking good. :[

i never said it wasn't that we got banned, i'm just keeping the options open cause there really isn't much we actually KNOW now
