YEAH.  NFL 2K3 has great gameplay but It doesnt take advantage of the Xbox.  Ill wait until NFL 2K4 comes out.      NBA 2K3 is worth $50 though.     biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif

Was it the W.A.M release or did you backup it yourself?    uhh.gif

Could M$ be moving against scene releases of games?

...somehow I doubt it.  There's probably a subtle difference in the released version that 'breaks' the updater.  If M$ really wanted to shut down copied games, they would check to make sure there's a real game in the DVD drive before even letting you 'go live'.

couldn't you just rent the original, update the game with the original, copy it & then use the backup from then on??

would that work??

since some people say they have updated with a backup fine with no problems, does that mean that it only shows the error for some people??

i just burned a copy of nfl 2k3 onto a dvd-rw about 10 minutes ago & I updated it on xbox live & it still works fine.

why does it return a error for only some people??

I have copied NBA 2K3 & NFL 2K3 & when i put them games in the dvd tray, it will load the MS logo screen & then both games will go to a black screen & just sit there for like up to 2 minutes & then after about 2 minutes they will start loading the sega intro. I thought it was a bad burn at first so i reburned each game twice & the same thing happened everytime. The retail loaded right away so i know that the retail isn't like that.

Does this happen to other people or is it just me or are all sega games like that?? How do i fix it??

Well, has anybody thought about how the update might be causign that error only for beta users?  Everybody who has had no trouble has noted that they have the retail live disc.  It might be a problem that will disappear as soon as every beta tester gets their retail disc in teh mail.

my dash is untouched (acutally a backup that is untoched).  I've also tried running the game and updater from a pre-xbox live c backup (I still had my login user/pass on e: so it let me login) and it gives me the same error with the same amount of harddrive noise.

By accident I left evox as my xboxdash.xbe and it still gave me the same error and didn't nuke my drive.

I'm wondering, the harddrive noise I'm hearing during update, do people running a dvd-r backup get that same hd activity or is the updater reading the game data (so reading the dvd for a dvd-r backup)?
