Network Cables

I ordered a 300ft Cat-5 cable on the internet and it came, but one of the 8 colered wires inside the blue tubing was missing, it was the blue/white one. Does any one know what that one is used for, i want to know if i have to return it

If its standard color coordination for ethernet(5th wire), it doesn't do anything(unless you are using a hub/router that is trying to get power from it).

1/2 & 3/6 are the pairs for ethernet.
