I also just got selected. I think I am going to take the risk with the modded box. If something don't go right, then I will buy me a new one, or at least one off ebay.

                                    I know what you mean, I had it pre-ordered at Babbages and paid my $50 up front (just in case I found something else to spend the money on you know). Then today I get accepted, so play it 15 days early and try and resist playing beta's online, have to go to the mall and cancel my order. Or just wait? I went ahead and ordered at least when my kid grows up his Dad won't have been the only parent in his class that didn't get accepted to the great Xbox live beta program of 2002.  biggrin.gif

Believe it or not, I got the acceptance mail as well.  I think this is just a way for MS to pre-sale their kit directly to end users so they can earn more money than doing the sale through retailer.
