I Always Get Dns Not Resolved

If you are running Xp, plug your cable modem back into the PC and turn on both.

Open a dos box and type nslookup.

The first number you see will be your DNS address.

Now put that number in for DNS in the Xbox.

You are having problems because your ISP's DHCP server is not giving the client machines this information properly so you must do it by hand.

I'd complain to the ISP!

Make sure that your DNS resolution actually works.

Run nslookup again and give it www.MS.com to see if it returns an address. If it does then DNS is working and the Xbox just needs to know it's IP.

You need to insert your DNS address into the XboxLive control panel.

Call up the ISP and ask them what the DNS servers IP's (there is normally more than one!) addresses are.

You may also need to put your PC's MAC address into the Xbox configuration screen as well. It's highly likely you do!

IPCONFIG /ALL

will show it to you however it will appear like this

00-03-47-F7-00-26

Enter it like this

00:03:47:F7:00:26
