dunno if this is the right forum, but anyway, what should i do with my broken xbox? the only bad part in the whole thing is the dvd drive. i really dont want to repair it, i doubt i would use it anyway. are there any cool mods i can do to use parts of it with a pc or anything? any comments/questions are appreciated.

Buy a replacement (xbox)DVD rom on ebay.

Or if the xbox boots ok, put in a large HDD and never use the DVD rom again.

Better still, sell all the parts individually, Case, sheilding, jewel (removed), Power supply, HDD, MOBO, HS/fans, Screw set.

You can make more money than a new xbox is worth most times, depends on the desperation of some people

does it have mod chip installed?

if so . . .

you could make a custom BIOS that does not check for DVD . . .
therefore making it usable again . . .

i got xbtools, im going to try the streaming idea..... yes i do have a chip in it... and xecuter2 lite. Do you know how i use xbtools? cause i dont get it at all, im gonna look for some tuts, but if you could supply info about using it, i would realy apreciate it

quick how to with xboxtool . . .

open xboxtool.exe

from file operations > open > select a virgin BIOS (previously unmodded)

select boot partition i.e. c (this is where your evoxdash.xbe resides)

select size of BIOS i.e. 256k for matrix (this is size of image after save)

de-select options such as trademark, dvd check etc (un-tick = do not want this)

select colours

save as . . . give relevent name i.e. . . . D.6-blue-no-dvd-check (this is your custom BIOS)

nm, i found complex's 4627 version, im gonna try it now


EDIT:  i guess these are no good or something.... "Invalid Config Params For Kernal Extract"   and about the RC4 key, will i need to worry about that? i have a xbox 1.0

XBtool doesn't work with those BIOS's, unless you just want to unpack them.

Check the XBtool page for a list of supported BIOS's.

ok, so i got Xecuter2_4976.02_MultiVer_256k and opened it. i uncheck the dvd drive option and it was set on 1024k file size. now how exactly do i load this bios onto my xbox? my dvd drive does not work
