Map Pack On Multiple Boxes
« on: July 06, 2005, 04:05:00 PM »

Me and some friends are gonna purchase the ma pack disk and split the cost. My question is "Has anyone done it yet?" and if so "Were you able to get on live at the same time in the same new map?"

I understand that in theory it should work because you cant write to the disk saying that it has already been ripped. And I'm thinking that if Bungie is just giving the maps away in August why put an online serial number on the maps for security?

No flaming please about it only being $20.

The  maptacular update pack works just like the previous DLC... that is, you can run the update on several boxes, and play the maps from those boxes just fine, with no issues.

So, if you and your buddy want to share the cost of the overbearing $20, go right ahead.  :)

Yeah, thats the sole reason why I purchased it, for MANY of my friends who are too cheap to get XBL/the maps themselves. So its also really perfect for LANs when someone unexpectedly shows up without the maps.

I need to know if the disc is region free. I have a PAL and NTSC unmodded consoles and need to be sure one disc will do the job for both. Anyone?

In the MS dash, delete the map saves, where the gamesaves are.

If your'e using a softmod, then make sure that you coldboot the mapack to a non-modded state before installing the maps. The newer exploits utilize a virtual eeprom that doesn't allow the maps to be signed over correctly to your XBOX to run in a non-modded state for Live (locks at boot screen).

I did the exact same thing, I split the price with a friend, but we realized that ripping a game on two Xbox's is illegal, so we went back to the store because of our guilty conciouses and purchased another.
