^^ Not if you know where to look. There's a pack available (not going to say where) that installs the maps correctly. I was told that it rewrites some serial to the map based on your eeprom just like MS does when you download it off live.
The pack comes in a torrent and it states that it doesn't include any hacked up maps. So you WILL NOT be banned. Been playing on live since monday with these maps and have had 0 problems so far.

Well, if you know your way around these types of things, then you should know how to get the recent maps without paying for them.
(Ex. Killtacular map pack)
*Edit* Sorry I didn't see this was mentioned already.
Also, no, you cannot get banned from using these maps on Live, they are signed correctly to your Xbox just as the way they are supposed to be.

Shit I will gladly pay for any updates and new maps. 6 bucks is reasonable. Its like getting a new job and they ask you to stay over, you say sure cause that means overtime right,. No becuase they payed you for the last 2 hours why shoud they pay you for the next 2.

Would you do anything for free, hell no. So why should they just give you these maps for free. I think its great they are making them, and its stupid for people to complain about it.

Do you have to have XBL, no. Do you have to have the new maps, No. See where im going here with this. Why should Ms give this stuff away, its not like they are charging another 50 bucks for each map or all maps all together. Pricing is very fair, plus half is free.

Why don't they allow users to create maps for them instead? Then there would be no reason to charge any money for maps and some serious mappers out there would get to have some fun.

thats the point...they want you to want more maps so you will buy more of theres...if you had an option to create your own map and play it on live they would have no reason to make more money...
