I have to agree that Halo 2 was made for more of a mass appeal (more for noobs), then halo 1 was. And i also agree that Halo 2 requires less skills then Halo 1, for example no fall damage. Those who are good know that if you duck right before you hit the ground you can reduce a lot of the power taken off.
Here are my biggest complaints about halo 2, from greatest to least (not counting no system link campaign coop):
1) Melee attach is not as fluid, responsive or workable as in halo 1; too much of the screen is taken up, and you lunge when you melee. Both these cases cause me to lose track of where the enemy is; I loved dancing around an enemy while meleeing him to death in halo 1,
. sigh. It also might be that less frames of animation are used in halo 2, making it seam less fluid, and easier to get disorientated when fighting in hand to hand combat.
2) Environment textures are not as clean/detailed up close as Halo 1
3) Bullet shells do not stay on the ground, after firing; they just bounce once then disappear. It was very satisfying when after a large battle, there were bullet shells laying all over the place in halo 1.
4) No fall damage
5)No pistol (i don't count the worthless POS black thing a pistol)
6) The shotgun looks retarded; with the florescent green sights, and way too zoomed in. And it does not leave as much damage when shooting a wall.
7) No blood is spilt when hitting a dead body. This isnt all that big of an issue, but was sure cool and satisfying in halo 1 (blood is spilt when shooting a dead body, in halo 2, though).
It makes me wonder if not all of the original bungie team worked on halo 2, thus missing some of the crucial points that made halo 1 so damn good.
